Buying guide
Choose racks around your inventory.
A practical checklist for comparing storage systems and preparing a useful quotation request.
This is a purchasing checklist. It does not replace a site survey, structural assessment or configuration-specific engineering advice.
1. Begin with the inventory
List item or pallet dimensions, maximum weights and quantities. Separate manually picked goods, palletised goods and long materials. A single warehouse may need more than one system.
2. Match the handling method
| Requirement | Explore |
|---|---|
| Palletised inventory | Pallet racks |
| Cartons and parts picked by hand | Slotted-angle racks or light and medium-duty racks |
| Long materials | Cantilever racks |
| Additional storage levels | Mezzanine floors or multi-tier racks, subject to site assessment |
| Retail and grocery display | Supermarket racks, garment store racks and grocery store racks |
| Cable routing | Cable trays |
3. Record the site constraints
Share floor dimensions, available height, columns, doors and obstructions. Include the equipment used to move goods and the routes that must remain accessible.
4. Compare equivalent quotations
Ask for the proposed dimensions, loading specification, finish, quantity and included components. Check whether packing, freight, unloading and installation are included or priced separately.
5. Request the product documentation
Ask for configuration-specific ratings, assembly and use instructions, inspection guidance and warranty terms where applicable. Do not assume a generic duty label defines the permitted load.
6. Plan for changes
Include likely changes in stock quantity, item size or workflow. Any later change to a loaded configuration should be checked with the supplier before use.
